EURO is the Association of European Operational Research Societies. All together these societies are covering over 12,000 members form the different European countries but also from Israel, Egypt and South Africa. It aims are the development and the promotion of the O.R. Science.
Euro is organising a large international conference two times every three years. The last one, EURO XIV, took place in Israel in 1995 and the next one, EURO XV, will be organised in SPAIN in July 1997.
Euro is publishing monthly its Bulletin and EJOR, the European Journal of Operational Research.

b. Mini EURO ConferencesSince 1984, EURO has also been organising specialised conferences, known as Mini EURO EURO Conferences, which focus on promising O.R. topics.
Through these conferences, EURO hopes to fulfil its goal of promoting the development of new fields and encouraging new applications.
Past Mini EURO Bruges Conferences were held successively in Bruges (1984), Lunteren (1985), Herceg-Novi (1987), Warwick (1988), Thessalonika (1993) and Liege (1994).
c. 7th Mini EURO Conference, Bruges
The next Mini EURO Conference will be held in Bruges, Belgium.
Bruges is the romantic Flanders city. It has been called the Venice of the North and is renowned for its lovely canals, graceful swans, old trees, quaint streets, famous museums and and quiet atmosphere.
The conference will be devoted to Decision Support Systems, Groupware, Multimedia and Electronic Commerce. The purpose is to survey advanced concepts and new technologies, bringing together researchers and practioners to present and to discuss recent developments in the field and to evaluate their managerial impact.
A comprehensive tutorial for those willing to enter the field will be organised the first day.

Attendance will be limited. The conference will include several kinds of activities : a tutorial on the conference theme, the presentation of papers, software demonstrations, panel sessions, a book exhibition and an attractive social programme.
a. Tutorial Day on "Groupware, Multimedia and Electronic Commerce" - March 24
On Monday, March 24, 1997 (9:00-12:00 and 14:00-17:00), a one-day tutorial on "Groupware, Multimedia and Electronic Commerce" will be given by Prof. T. JELASSI and Prof. A.A. ANGEHRN (INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France).
It will present basic concepts, supporting technologies and specific real-world applications.
It is particularly recommended for those who either are new to the field or want to update their knowledge about it.
A comprehensive handout will be provided by the lecturers to all tutorial participants.
An additional fee is requested for attending this tutorial.
b. The Conference - March 24-27
The opening session will be held on Monday, March 24, from 18:00 to 19:30 in the Hendrik Pickery Room of the Belfry Halls of the City of Bruges (on Market Square). Professor Michel THEYS (SEMA Group) will be the plenary speaker.
After the opening session, the participants are invited by the Council of the City of Bruges for a reception in the Jan Garemijn Room of the Belfry Halls.
Over 300 submissions were received and only 234 of them were selected.
The selected papers are grouped in nine parallel sessions :

7. Multimedia
8. Electronic Commerce
9. Multicriteria DSS
These nine parallel sessions will take place in the Sofitel Hotel according to the enclosed timetable (cf. the preliminary programme).
A 30 minutes time slot has been allocated to each presentation. There will be two sessions each having three presentations in the morning and one session with four presentations in the afternoon (except on Thursday).
Each conference room will be equipped with an overhead projector and, on request, with a PC and a LCD screen.
There will be three panels during the conference, one per day. Well-known researchers, including some pionneers in the field, have been invited to take part in these panels.
A special room will be available in the Park Hotel for the EDS Exhibition Room. It will include three sections :
The GDSS Demonstration Room :
The GDSS-Promethee & Delphi software developed jointly by the U.L.B. and V.U.B. universities in Brussels and by EDS will be demonstrated twice a day. Each time up to 18 delegates can take part in a real-life group decision application.
The EDS Multimedia Corner :
Multimedia tools and applications will be demonstrated by EDS specialists.
The Software Demonstration and Free Paper Presentation Area :
All participants, research laboratories, professional software developers will have the opportunity to make software demonstrations or to present free papers.
Multiple demonstrations can be scheduled according to time and space availability.
Demonstrations can be announced at the end of a paper presentation.
Moreover, free presentation of unscheduled papers can be arranged by all participants in this area. The room will be equipped with an overhead projector.
No timetable will be set up in advance for these activities. It will be up to the participants to organise and announce their presentations. A special panel located close to the registration desk will be available for this purpose.
The closing session will be held on Thursday, March 27, from 16:00 to 17:00 in the Sofitel Hotel. The plenary speaker will be Prof. R. SPRAGUE (University of Hawaii, USA).
A book exhibition will be held in the Park Hotel, close to the Software Demonstration Area.
Paper presenters who need a computer for their presentation are kindly asked to bring their own equipment. However, the organisers will lend a notebook and a LCD projection screen, on first-come first-serve basis, to the authors who request it.
A selection of papers presented at the 7th Mini EURO Conference will be published in special issues devoted to Decision Support Systems, Groupware, Multimedia and Electronic Commerce, in the following journals :
Only full papers available by the conference date will be considered.
All papers will be evaluated by at least two referees.The session chairmen will be involved in the review process.

Authors will be notified of the acceptance of their paper for publication not later than October 30, 1997.

Special rates have been negotiated with both hotels :
BEF 4,500.- (+/- US $ 150.-) per day for single room,
BEF 2,750.- (+/- US $ 90.-) per day per person for double room.
These prices include all taxes, accommodation, breakfast buffet and lunch buffet.
These prices can only be obtained if the organisers pay the full bill in advance ! For this reason, participants who want to benefit from these special rates are asked to pay their full hotel bill together with their registration fee as soon as possible.
The lunch buffet will be offered free of charge only to the participants having booked in the SOFITEL or PARK Hotels. Special tickets will be provided for this purpose. Participants without tickets will be charged BEF 750.- for each lunch.
The rooms will be allocated on a first-com first-serve basis. The organising committee cannot help matching people who want to share a double room. If wanted, it is up to the delegates to organise it.
