*************************** * Guidelines for Referees * *************************** The aim of 4OR is to publish good quality papers within a short period of time, allowing OR researchers to communicate results in a fast and efficient way. Therefore the usual scientific and ethic standards of any international journal in Operations Research should apply to the paper submitted. Both theoretical and applied papers are acceptable in 4OR provided that the theoretical developments are directly related to the disciplinary core of operations research. Papers dealing with emerging fields in OR should receive special attention. The aim of 4OR being to publish papers within a short period of time implies however that only papers acceptable in their present form or needing minor revisions (revisions that will be likely to be undertaken within 2 months by the authors) will be considered for publication. Since all papers needing a major revision will be rejected, papers needing to be revised will not normally be sent back to the referees. The refereeing form has been designed to facilitate the task of the referees. Referees may find it convenient to adjoin it to their report. If however you prefer to produce an open-format report, this will be equally welcome,as long as it provides similar information. Referees should motivate their advice. When papers are not considered acceptable for publication, referees are expected in their report to provide constructive suggestions that will be transmitted to the authors. Whenever "major revision" would be needed, referees should indicate whether they encourage papers to be resubmitted to the journal. The identity of individual referees will remain secret to the authors. The names and affiliation of all those who have served as referees will be published once per year in the Journal. Referees are kindly asked to send their report by e-mail to the Area Editor of the Journal within 2 months.
